What can I use instead of Fix-a-Flat?
- Use a tire repair kit. Keep a tire repair kit on hand. If you get a flat, a small patch can be just want you need to make it to a service stop. ...
- Use a run-flat tire. Purchase run flat tires. ...
- Contact roadside assistance. Be ready to contact emergency services.
In the tire, Fix-a-Flat should be removed within 3 days or 100 miles (whichever one comes first). In the can, Fix-a-Flat has a shelf life of 2 years from the date manufactured.
No. Fix-a-Flat will not cause harm to most tires when used as directed on the label.
If the nail or screw is strongly embedded into the tire's tread, there's no need to remove it at this time. Get out your can of Fix-a-Flat, follow its directions to connect it to your tire valve, and empty the entire contents of the can into the tire. You should see the tire visibly inflate.
Slime sealant is a liquid that may dry out over long periods of time. For maximum puncture protection and optimal performance, we recommend that Slime be replaced after 2 years. For most tires and tubes, this will also be the time period for replacement due to wear and tear.
Yes. Fix-a-Flat will seal punctures up to ¼ inch and will fill the tire with enough air pressure to get you back on the road. Immediately, drive the car for at least 2 to 4 miles and visit a gas station (or use a tire inflator) to fill your tire with the proper amount of air pressure as soon as possible.
Drive the car immediately - It's important that you drive your car immediately after using Fix-a-Flat to allow the tire pressure to increase and distribute the sealant evenly on the tire. You should only drive the car about 2 to 4 miles after sealing the tire.
Drive your automobile right after applying Fix-a-Flat. This way, the tire pressure will be raised, and the sealant will be distributed more evenly within. Still, notice that your car should only go for about 2-4 extra miles after applying the product.
It Might Ruin Your TPMS
Tire sealants can clog your tire pressure monitoring system. If it's not cleaned promptly, this could ruin a sensor. However, as Fix-a-Flat and other tire sealants aren't meant to be permanent, your TPMS should be safe as long as you have the treated tire repaired in a timely manner.
Each can of Fix-a-Flat is intended to be fully dispensed into one tire. We do not recommend using a single can on more than one tire.
Why do tire shops hate Fix-a-Flat?
It's not just that we hate it. It's that it compromises the ability of the rubber cement and patch material to vulcanize to the now soaked and chemically altered rubber of the tire carcass. It is highly prone to failure and rapid air leak.
“Fix-A-Flat" is pressurized so no air compressor is needed. Great for getting you out of harm's way on the highway to the nearest repair facility. “Slime" (imo) works better for dealing if you have access to an air compressor. Notify the repairman of sealant use when having the tire repaired.

For most kinds of repairable damage, it takes about 40 minutes to an hour to repair the hole. That gives enough time to locate the damage, evaluate it, repair your tire if possible, and test the repair.
Slime is a useful tool to counter a puncture but not a permanent fix.
If you use a tire sealant, you should get the tire professionally repaired or replaced as quickly as possible—typically within 100 miles or as directed by the product.
Do not leave Slime inside your tires for more than 2 years. After that time, we cannot guarantee the integrity of your rims. Slime's Emergency Tire Sealant formula is intended to be used as a temporary emergency repair in passenger vehicles.
Though many may believe that products like Fix-A-Flat or Slime definitely damage or impair your TPMS sensor, that is not the case. Upon application they do not harm the system, sensor, or tire in any way.
Valve stems and cores (the tiny valve itself, inside the tube) with leaks also can be replaced. If the slow leak is because the wheel isn't fully seated against the tire, sometimes removing the tire and applying a bead sealer can stop the leak.
Also, if you experience any vibration or wobbling while driving on a tire that has been repaired with Fix-a-Flat, don't be alarmed. The extra gunk inside your tire can throw it completely off balance.
The short answer is no—you cannot drive with a flat tire. While you might be tempted to “limp” your tire to the repair shop, you cannot drive with a flat tire.
Can you use Fix-a-Flat on a tire twice?
A tire can be patched twice and up to three times. However, this rule goes out the window if the hole overlaps another patch or damaged area.
Tires with the acoustic foam are repairable using industry approved methods of injury size and injury location on the tire the same as any other tire injury. A TWO PIECE REPAIR AND MINICOMBI REPAIR METHOD IS ACCEPTABLE TO REPAIR THESE TIRES.
